It is getting more and more common to see ornamental fencing. Typical fence types are being exchanged for more decorative metal fencing. Other fences do not stand up to the test of time like metal does. Some of these types of fences require a good deal of work to keep them functional. This can be time consuming for many people who do not wish this work.
Metal fencing is a hot commodity because it is very low maintenance. You do not have to do much to maintain a fence that is made of metal. These fences do not have many issues to deal with. Even rust is no longer a problem when the technique of galvanization is used to protect them and help to keep out rust and make the metal last longer.
Wrought iron fencing is the most usual and familiar type of fences that are made of metal. This practice has been used for hundreds of years. But only those who had the means could purchase a wrought iron fence. In the early 1900's, wrought iron lost its ranking as the most common type of fence. More recently, it is becoming fashionable to have a wrought iron fence.

Benefits of a PVC Fence!
Firstly, a PVC fence will last much longer. A wood fence has an average lifespan of roughly 10 to 15 years, while a PVC fence can last more than 50 years. This is because they are made from a type of durable plastic called poly vinyl chloride, which is as strong as wood but can stand up to the elements much better than a natural material. They cannot get termite damage, they cannot grow mildew, they cannot rot, and they cannot fade or splinter. They are even resistant to graffiti.
Secondly, its sturdy nature also means that PVC fencing is virtually maintenance free. There will never be a need to paint or sand it. Nor do you have to worry about it blowing down in a storm or collapsing under the weight of someone attempting to climb it; PVC is five times stronger and four times more flexible than wood. Plus, it is easy to install yourself.
Lastly, PVC fences look much cleaner and sharper than a typical wooden fence. They come in a crisp white color that is specially treated to withstand harsh UV rays. They are available in a variety of styles from traditional to contemporary, making them a perfect choice for any type of building. In fact, they have become so popular that they can actually increase the property value of your home. They are seen as an upgrade, similar to having granite counter tops in your kitchen.

Aluminum Fences Could be for You!
Aluminum is the preferred choice for fencing due to several inherent advantages of aluminum. The main advantage is that aluminum components do not rust as easily as iron. Aluminum fences are given a powder-coat finish that protects the surfaces. This kind of a finish also enhances its appearance and provides a smooth surface for painting, if desired. All the components of the fence are drilled and powder-coated prior to assembly. Extreme care is taken during assembly by using sturdy fasteners, brackets, and rivets. Wherever these fasteners, etc., need to be visible, attractive stainless steel ones are used. This provides both looks and strength.
As aluminum fencing is an easy metal to work with, a plethora of style choices and adornment options are made available to clients. The flexibility of the metal allows for several designs that can complement the façade of the structure they are installed around.
A little bit of care exercised during manufacture can ensure a maintenance free fence. Aluminum fences also meet prescribed safety standards. They are easy to install and are thus cost effective, saving you plenty of money in terms of labor cost. The durability of aluminum fences is such that most of them come with a lifetime warranty.

Is a Wrought Iron Fence Right for You?
Wrought iron fences can be a beautiful and decorative touch to any outdoor space. It is more expensive than other types of fencing, but it is also more ornamental. Most often, wrought iron fences require less maintenance and repair, and can often increase property value. Because of its strength and ability to be formed into sharp points, it is often used for security fencing.
Typically wrought iron fencing is used as a gate or ornamental feature. Rarely do people use it for the entire fence line. Most often you will find wrought iron in conjunction with brick or other masonry. Since they are custom made, they will require professional installation. Their use is specialized, and might require specific types of hinging or movement that is complicated. You will want to hire a contractor that is highly trained and proficient.
When working with a contractor, make sure they know your expectations. Ask for references or examples of their previous work. You will need to let them know if you want galvanized iron fencing or not. Galvanized fencing will not rust or fade with age, but many people enjoy the rustic look that rust can add to a wrought iron fence.

Vinyl vs Wood Fence
Vinyl Fence
The positives of a vinyl fence are very low maintenance, bug free (including termites), resistant to graffiti (live in a rough part of town, eh), doesn't attract fungus, doesn't rot, and you do not have to re-paint it.
The negatives are that vinyl fences are more expensive, it can crack, you have limited color options to choose from, and the painting, while not needing to be repainted, will fade over time.
Wooden Fence
Here are the positives to going "au natural." They are far less expensive than vinyl, can be painted with any color, have more of a classic look, and you can hang plant hangers on them if that is your thing (gardeners will appreciate this).
When it comes to the negatives of wooden fences they require a lot more maintenance, can rot with rain+humidity, attract termites who want it for lunch, need annual treatments, and the boards warp over time.
Overall Consensus
Vinyl is a material that is more trouble free by far. You spend more money on it but then, as stated, you can virtually forget about it for years. Wood will give a home a more classic and homely look to it but it will require yearly maintenance. Look in any neighborhood, even the newer ones, and you will notice a lot more wooden fences than vinyl so the majority of homeowners either love wood despite its required upkeep or stick with what is there when they purchase the house. Builders use wood because, no surprise here, its cheaper. Which one is the best. You decide.

Pool Safety and Fences
Families can have hours of fun and entertainment with a swimming pool on your property. However it is vital to keep your children and pets safe from accidental drowning. Pool safety fences surround your pool and prevent young children and pets access. The second leading cause of death is drowning which takes the lives of children between the ages of one and fourteen.
Having a safety fence around your pool makes sense. In many parts of the USA a pool fence is a required by law as this prevents pets and children from accessing the pool area. Even if one lives in a state where there is no law, it is still necessary to put up pool fencing. Another reason to have a pool fence is to keep pets out as many pets find their way into the pool and may not be able to find their way out.
There are many factors to take into consideration when choosing pool safety fences. There are many different types, styles and designs available. Pool fencing includes wood, plastic, mesh and metal. Metal fences are strong and durable, but usually block the view. Wooden fences are very attractive, but need to be maintained regularly. Plastic pool fencing is not durable and usually splits.
Mesh pool fencing is by far the most popular as it is removable and lightweight. Mesh is also durable and sturdy and proved the perfect barrier. With mesh fencing one can still enjoy the clear views of the pool and garden.
The height of pool safety fences should be no less than 4' prevent children from climbing over. The gaps should also be narrow which will prevent pets from slipping through. The gate should be self closing and lockable. Why take any chances? Protect your loved ones and keep them safe and secure.
